Jack W. Schulz, a native of Saginaw, MI
focuses his practice on employment litigation, representing labor unions, and representing truck drivers. Jack has been included as a Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Star each year since 2016. Additionally, Jack is a previous recipient of the F. Philip Colista Endowed Scholarship for his commitment to the underprivileged and was also selected by the National Labor Relations Board, Region Seven, as recipient of the Bernard Gottfried Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Labor Law. Jack is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and Michigan State University.
Prior to law school
Jack worked for several years as an organizer. Jack has experience planning and implementing issue based campaigns, ballot initiatives and numerous other large scale outreach programs. He has managed campaigns in Michigan, Illinois, West Virginia, Louisiana, New York, Missouri, Ohio, Colorado, Vermont, Rhode Island, California, Florida and Arkansas.
As an attorney
Jack’s legal work has made national headlines and, in some cases, contributed to far reaching boycotts of discriminatory businesses. During a deposition in 2019, Jack highlighted the discrimination and the “colorblindness” of a craft beer manager who refused to even acknowledge his former coworker was African-American. The testimony garnered national outrage and the deposition, including Schulz’s keen questioning, was published in legal journals and literary journals, including Harper’s.
